Academy guides and news briefings explain concepts. They do not replace live aeronautical information, an approved flight manual, an operator procedure or a weather briefing. Good preparation connects learning material to the authoritative source for the actual flight.

What this means in practice

A screenshot removes provenance. It may not show the publication title, effective date, amendment, vertical extent, adjacent note or the context that explains an abbreviation. Even when the pixels remain accurate, the reader may be unable to prove that they apply to today's route and time.

A pilot saves an image of an approach frequency and runway note during early planning. On the day of flight, the underlying publication has changed and a NOTAM affects the service. Because the image still looks professional and familiar, it survives the cockpit check. Starting again from the current source would reveal the amendment and the temporary information before departure.

Limits of this briefing

Electronic flight bags and screenshots can be useful displays or briefing records when their data-management process is controlled. The problem is not the image format itself; it is unverified currency, incomplete context or an inability to recover the authoritative source.
